Mods/Admins -- Do we have any guidelines/protocol for fan-art posting here? For instance, can we link/upload images created by others without contacting them (which would be a tiresome task)? --Aleonymous (talk) 11:37, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Pretty sure we can't just take someone's work and post it here, that's pretty much against copyright. I think the goal I had in mind for the fan art page on here was to get people excited about posting their pictures/art, thus getting them to interact/make an account/join the community. I don't think we have to stray away from that idea, but perhaps inviting people to post rather than just swiping it and throwing it up. If this page were to blow up I'd love to see what kinds of templates you might come up with for displaying people's art, you have some great stuff tbh. --Z3ther (talk) 23:38, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, Z3ther. Inviting (directly contacting) some of the best fanart creators would be a good start-point. About, copyright, what if we just included links and descriptions to people's content (e.g. deviantART gallery, steam-profile etc), without uploading nor displaying their actual artwork in the wiki? --Aleonymous (talk) 08:57, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
I think that's okay, Maybe something similar to the front page.. I know there's a LOT of nice art out there, and it would be fun to get people rallied around putting it up somewhere. The facebook page has crazy good work, so organizing it might be fun. I'll start hitting up some people to get them to try and contribute. If you want to put together a way top display it (with links on the side) that would be super! Cheers! EDIT: This is one of the best fan art wiki pages I could come up with. Maybe you know better though. --Z3ther (talk) 10:25, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Cool, we already got one submission, and a pretty one at that =) I'm actually not aware of anything better, for fan-art wiki page material, so we'll make it up as we go! I'll start by contacting some folks I saw on deviantART. --Aleonymous (talk) 14:33, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
Looks super, I guess you've been talking to a ton of people! Maybe once we get a bunch we can switch to </gallery> style to make the formatting nice for big or small screens. However I'll leave it up to you, and what you might think is best. Was anyone interested in joining to post their pictures?--Z3ther (talk) 18:38, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Yup, gallery would be better; I just threw everything in to start filling it up. I am not sure how well the captioning would work in gallery mode; feel free to experiment :) We could also categorize them, e.g. portraits/characters, landscapes, sketches/full-color etc (once there actually more of them). As to your last question: Apart from the topmost artist (and another who created an account but didn't do anything afterwards), nobody joined themselves to post their pictures... They "authorized" me to do it! --Aleonymous (talk) 18:55, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for helping populate this page, Aleo! I was thinking over the best way to present the fan art, and I keep coming back to the "packed-hover" mode of the gallery tag (see example just below here), but unfortunately it only works in wikimedia version 1.22 and up. I just made a draft of the gallery on my user page, using the normal gallery tag. Any thoughts? -Guðmundr (Talk) 20:27, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Looks good, Gud :) I've also found out that some of the gallery features (e.g. "packed hover") don't work here; what version of wikimedia do gamepedia wikis support? --Aleonymous (talk) 19:53, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll go ahead and move the changes over. I'm not sure if all gamepedia wikis use the same wikimedia version, but this one is using 1.21.8. -Guðmundr (Talk) 23:30, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
From what it sounds like, even wikimedia releases are pretty buggy, so gamepedia is going to wait for odd, so will be going straight to 1.23 this summer. We can change it then if we decide it's still worth it. However the page looks super, glad you went with it.--Z3ther (talk) 09:00, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Fan Art is looking pretty hot, dang! :D Well done guys!--Z3ther (talk) 17:46, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Well done to the artists... We just gathered the stuff! --Aleonymous (talk) 14:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
