Petrus, King Meinolf's right-hand man determined to keep him safe from all harm, enters the fray in The Banner Saga 3. He and King Meinolf despise Rugga.
A serious man, Petrus is the captain of King Meinolf's city guard, a new way of doing things, but crucial for a city that has sprawled into a bigger urban landscape than has ever been seen before. Petrus rose quickly to his rank, thanks to his methodical personality and his dedication to keeping the King safe. He knows the inner workings of Arberrang better than nearly anyone else alive.
The character strikes multiple times, randomly hitting his opponent for 1 strength or 1 armor damage.
On the last hit, Bloody Flail does damage equal to 1 plus 1 for each ally standing adjacent to him. This last hit will randomly damage strength or armor.
Rank 1: 4 strikes total
Rank 2: 5 strikes total
Rank 3: 6 strikes total
Bloody flail does direct damage, making it useful even when the character is near death.
For this reason it also does a great job of taking out wounded enemies who still have a lot of armor by bypassing it completely.
By standing next to an ally, the character creates a Shield Wall, raising the armor of both himself and his ally by 1. This bonus remains until the raider is no longer adjacent to the ally.
When multiple raiders stand next to each other this effect is magnified as they each grand each other their own bonus.
Four raiders standing in a square formation will give each an additional 4 armor.
Summoning Petrus's Reinforcements adjacent to himself can prevent a killstrike by granting him (and the summoned raider) 2 armor.
