Acting as shock troops, Grunts rumble into battle and drive back their enemies. Grunts are the most common and all-around Dredge units. They bear small clubs/hammers, no shield, they have a melee attack-range and are quite mobile. The stone armor of a Grunt is among the most volatile, and when struck tends to shatter and damage other nearby Grunts. Their stats are not very high, but when encountered in large numbers they can easily overwhelm you unless promptly neutralized. However, Grunts have no active ability, something that greatly limits their threat-level in combination with their negative passive, Splinter (see below).

They come in three ranks: regular, Vicious and Enraged. The higher ranks distinguished by different colors are encountered later in the game or in the Hard difficulty setting. The Scourge's Tremble ability always summons a Grunt regular .

Passive Ability: Splinter[edit | edit source]

When a Dredge with the Splinter passive receives an Armor-break attack equal to or larger than 3, then all adjacent Dredge (of whichever class) suffer 1 Armor damage. This Armor damage is transferred in a domino-like effect along a 'chain' of adjacent Dredge.
