Originally named Brota, meaning "split", Bitra came about due to a dispute of the rightful chieftain of Skogr. The local rumor is that the founders of Bitra expected more people to side with them, and have been bitter about the divide ever since. The nickname "Bitra" seems to have stuck, to their dismay.
